    Lolla Mischief

Some mischief took place amidst the good times, music and food Lolla 2011 had to offer. After their Sunday night performance, Portugal. The Man’s van and U-haul-like trailer attached to the back of the van, were stolen from a parking lot near Grant Park.

The band is asking anyone with info to contact them.

More info on the van: red Ford 15 passenger 350 van with black trailer attached. Alaska license plate: FJH244

    The Kid Cudi Experience!

The late-afternoon downpour left pools of water and mud all over Grant Park. However, that didn’t stop Scott Mescudi from taking the stage. Watch his performance from our funny perspective— safe and clean on the concrete.

How To Fully Enjoy A Lolla Concert

An outdoor festival is very different from seeing your favorite performers live at an arena or concert hall. The biggest reason being that designated seats do not exist. Fans bunch up into a field and eagerly push their way towards the front of the stage. Beer and drugs flow freely from hand to hand. The heat index rises inside of the crowd as the artist nears the stage. Some tips we’ve learned is to prepare yourself to have drinks, sweat, and mud smeared onto your clothes at some point. Next, bring a blanket to mark off your personal space (most tend to respect the blanket swag). Lastly, become friends with your surrounding peers and dance through the night. It will definitely be an amazing experience!

What A Day!: Lolla Day 2

We were granted a peak into the luxury lifestyle of artists during their downtime. Our pit stop at the Express Rocks! Suite at The Hard Rock Hotel introduced us to a melting pot of journalists, press reps, artists, and other impresarios eager to have a good time. The second floor of the hotel hosted nachos by Qdoba, videos games and endless cups of UV Vodka mixes. The fourth floor was packed with free swag: a hair salon (got2b), facial products (Clearasil), music equipment (Blue), and writing utensils (Pentel). Running into choreographer Fatima Robinson and celebrity hair stylist Larry Sims added points to our swag too!

In the late afternoon, we raced back to Lollapalooza to stand in the growing crowd of fans waiting for Cee Lo Green to hit the stage at 6.30 p.m. He performed songs from his latest album and some tracks from Gnarls Barkley. After his set, more people entered the Music Unlimited stage to prepare themselves for a Eminem’s concert. Tens of thousands of fans pumped their fists to each of Em’s hits. The Detroit-bred rapper even mentioned Chicago as one of his favorite cities because “[Chicago and Detroit] has so many similarities.”

The day is not completely over! We’re heading over to some after-parties. Stay tuned for more details.

Choreographer Fatima Robinson was in the göt2b Suite at The Hard Rock Hotel sporting red mid-riff skinny jeans, a sheer bustier, Patra braids, a wicked hat and fierce accessories. She fused modern and vintage trends to pull off an attention-grabbing look.

I met you on the train, didn’t I? No? Well, you’re beautiful!

3 Essentials for Lolla Day 2

    1. Umbrella— It’s looking a little cloudy out here in Grant Park. We’ve already felt a couple of drizzles land on our shoulders. Don’t get caught out here in the [potential] rain.

    2. Extra Shirt— Since it may rain, and since folks tend to get out of control during the concerts, you may want to prepare for mud balls flying towards you at any moment. Hey, it may even end up on your shirt… bring a change of gear.

    3. Bug Spray— Every mosquito every born lurked around the Bud Light stage as Coldplay played last night. You’ll be in the Music Unlimited stage area for 3.5 hours tonight if you plan on seeing both Cee Lo Green and Eminem. The bugs will triumph if you refuse to bring some bug repellent.
